Marksmanship Fundamentals at 8:18 AM
Some tips on improving you marksmanship. Shooting is always learning, and every shot you fire should be a learning experience. Remember the marksmanship fundamentals that the CLT at your Trainfire Program taught you ?
Basically, in prone position, an important thing to remember is to focus on your target. In this case, the Canadian Bull or Figure 12. Always remember to place all your concentration on the target. Never let the target out of your sight.
Place the butt of the M16 rifle FIRMLY into the hollow of your shoulder or suffer the consequences of a dislocated shoulder. Though the computerized rifles produce only a small portion of the actual recoil, it is enough to distinguish between a marksman and a failure.
Always use your master eye to aim. Like the Officer said during the briefing, close one eye and find your master eye ( the one which you can see the clearest ) .
Take a deep breath in. The M16 Rifle will dip. Let your breath out, watching the front sight rise until it barely touches the bottom of the Canadian Bull - now hold your breath. You have just used a natural act - breathing - to establish your correct position to hit the target.
Whilst concentrating on the target, keeping the target in sight , squeeze the trigger to fire a shot. If the elevation at which you hold your rifle is accurate and you manage to align your sights, you should have a high chance to hit the target.
Keep these in mind and you will be sure to do well in your following IMT.

Part A IMT Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 9:20 AM
Today, the Part A cadets went for their IMT (Individual Marksmanship Trainer) Program. The cadets were tested based on their groupings ie. the displacement between shots fired. In the end, Anderson Secondary NCC Land produced 1 Marksman and 1 Cadet who Passed. To all else who failed, do not be discouraged. This is only your first IMT program. Sharpen your marksmanship fundamentals and all of you will be sure to do well.
Also, a big congratulations to our very own marksman , Ho Zhi Wei :)

6 Aug- Fire Movement Module D at 3:59 AM
Today's lesson marked the culmination of the Fire Movement package for the specialists and also the final rehearsal for tomorrow's performance. The specialists present were introduced to the fighting retrogade drill. The quartet of Gary, Zi Tao, Chin Kang and Byran went onto practice and master it. A lot of hard work and sweat was also put into the preparation of props for tomorrow's performance. A big masculine HOOYA to all who "fought" and contributed. 2LT Don

Recap on Part A's Trainfire on 4th August Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 9:48 AM
To all Part A's who attended the Trainfire Course at NCC HQ on Tuesday, here is a recap on what we have learnt throughout the course. Understand that Trainfire is an integral component of the Specialist Course in Secondary 3, and it would be wise to remember these information. It would also be advisable to keep a small notebook to take down all these info, such that you are prepared for the Trainfire component of the Specialist Course. Additionally, these information will be pivotal for all boys who will be taking their National Service at age 18.
I will not be revealing all aspects of what we have learnt at the course for the purpose of the course would be made redundant. Therefore, I'll leave it up to your memories to help you finish the processes.
To start off, the trainer covered the 3 topics of : a) Stripping and Assembling A Rifle, b) Loading and Unloading a rifle and c) IA and d) marksmanship fundamentals

Marksmanship Fundamentals
Grip ?
Breathing techniques ?
Prone position ?
Position of rifle butt ?
In order to handle this rifle correctly and effectively, learning every aspect of this weapon is very essential. Therefore, here is some data on the M16S1 rifle.
Characteristics i) The rifle is light compared to similar weapons used by other Armed forces. It weighs 3.6 kg (8 lbs.) with a fully loaded 30 round box magazine.
ii) The expanding gas, generated when the cartridge is detonated, is used to power the operating parts, which chambers each succeeding round.
iii) The barrel, which becomes hot during firing, is cooled by being exposed to the air. There is no special cooling device.
iv) The ammunition is contained in a metal-box known as a magazine which contains 30 rounds.
v) The rifle is made to fire either single round or multiple rounds when the trigger is held to the rear. When only single rounds are fired, the rifle is said to be operating on the Semi-Automatic mode whilst when more than one round is fired with the squeeze of the trigger, the rifle is said to be operating on the Fully-Automatic mode.
Effective Range 300m. Maximum Effective Range 460m. Maximum Range 2653m. Muzzle Velocity 990m/sec. Cyclic 700 to 800 rds per min.
Type of Ammunition Used.
5.56 mm Ball Round For live firing purposes
5.56 mm Tracer Round For night live firing purposes
5.56 mm Blank Round For training purposes
5.56 mm Drill Round For practice purposes
Don't worry if you cannot remember everything at once. Try to remember as much as you can from the Trainfire course today. I hope you Part A's have learnt much throughout this Trainfire course and certainly the first-hand experience will benefit you in the long run.

31 Jul- Fire Movement Module A and Orienteering Competition PT Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 1:18 AM
They came, they saw and they conquered. The specialists of ANDSS NCC part C have completed Module A of their Fire Movement package. They did so with finesse and determination in the sweltering heat. They learnt of the history of the fighting patrol group and went onto to master the basics of reacting to enemy fire, forming a fire line and closing in on the enemy by leap and bound.
The part A's and B's had drill lessons under the watchful eyes of their specialist trainers and also continued their PT preparation for the upcoming Orienteering competition.
